I'm Ariella Gintzler, a senior editor and associate gear director at Outside. There, I manage the bi-annual Outside Gear Guide and co-manage the central gear team for outdoor titles like BackpackerOutside MagazineSKITrail Runner, and Climbing. I also write and edit web stories and features.

Previously, I was the associate editor for Trail Runner, where I ran the website and edited print departments and features. My work has also appeared online with Rock and Ice (now Climbing)and SELF

I grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, where my family's camping and cross-country ski trips were met with confusion and concern. After high school, I moved to Maine, where I graduated from Colby College, and then headed west to the mountain hamlet of Carbondale, Colorado. I now live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I spend most of my free time running high-altitude singletrack, skiing , and occasionally wrestling lowball pebbles in Roy.

When not at my computer, I'm usually following friends into the mountains for some adventure that's way over my head.
